Jamie Oliver Chefs At George Abbot

Tuesday 29th June 2010

Chefs from Jamie's Italian Restaurant in Guildford have given two master classes to pupils at George Abbot School.

Forty pupils from years 7 and 8 learned how to make focaccia bread with garlic, thyme and tomatoes as well as their own fresh pasta along with several sauces.

Head chef at Jamie's Italian in Guildford, Dennis Duncanson, took the children through various vegetables like wild garlic, heritage tomatoes and an array of herbs, hoping to inspire the youngsters to take an interest in healthy eating.

The pupils seemed to be taken with the experience, with one, Elliot saying, 'I've never done it before and it's great fun, really interesting and I was inspired by the new tastes and making my own pasta."

Dennis Duncanson said:

"We were delighted to do the two Master Classes at George Abbot.

The pupils were very responsive and created some brilliant dishes."
